Before learning to tune consciousness, examine what you are tuning toward. A practice that strengthens attention can also strengthen attachment. Whatever powers a practitioner seeks, the ability to pursue a desire does not establish that the desire deserves devotion.

Consider the wish to become rich and famous. Someone may devote themselves to inhabiting that identity without questioning why recognition and wealth became their definition of a desirable life. Fear of insignificance may remain at the center. An apparently elevated destination can preserve the same dependence that made the present feel unbearable.

The warning about unseen forces is therefore also a warning about unexamined allegiance. Influences can shape what we desire before we recognize their hold on us. A person may become increasingly skilled at pursuing a life whose values they have never freely examined.

The first question is where the practice places its center.

Within The Godward Way, God the Father is the Creator and the fixed point present in all dimensions at once. Every state can change while the direction toward Him remains. Keeping that relationship central gives the practitioner a way to return when an attractive identity begins to govern the whole of life.

Even the desired state must remain something that can be offered.

The spiritual premise of this protocol is that experienced reality reflects the state maintained within consciousness. A **dimension** means a state of consciousness. **Frequency** refers to the quality of being one continually inhabits: its convictions, expectations, attachments, and direction.

A radio illustrates the relationship. Its tuning determines the station it receives. Likewise, the protocol treats experience as corresponding to the inner state through which life is continually encountered.

The world, in this understanding, is an impartial mirror. Its reflection corresponds to deep and dominant convictions. A superficial wish cannot replace the identity from which someone habitually lives.

That maintained pattern is one’s **signature of light**: the unique quality through which existence is expressed.

Beneath its changing configurations lies the simple awareness of being: **I AM**. Personality, physical condition, and biography provide descriptions. Before those descriptions is the awareness in which they appear.

> “I am healthy.” “I am weak.” “I am respected.” “I am ignored.”

Each adds a condition to the underlying awareness of existence. The practice begins by recognizing how a temporary condition becomes an identity, and how that identity becomes the familiar channel of experience.

**First, consciousness must become naked.** The image is Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, naked and without shame. Here, their nakedness becomes an invitation to approach the Father without the accumulated clothing of self-definition.

Set down the identities that demand protection: the successful person, the rejected person, the indispensable person, even the spiritually accomplished person. Your history remains available; it no longer needs to occupy the center of being.

When an attachment appears, recognize it while offering it Godward. Recognition and offering belong to the same movement. Allow awareness to remain present without immediately dressing it in another description.

**Second, attention must learn persistence.** An unfamiliar state is easily displaced by old expectations. Attention returns to the familiar identity because it has practiced living there.

Train the return. When a thought, emotion, or memory absorbs attention, recognize and offer it while remaining directed toward the Father. Resume the state you are learning to inhabit.

Persistence grows through this repeated movement. A distracted moment becomes another opportunity to return.

**Third, inhabit the assumed state through direct sensory experience.** The distinction is subtle: thinking about a state and living from it are different activities.

To inhabit dignity, allow dignity to shape how you sit, listen, speak, and receive the presence of another person. To inhabit steadiness, allow a sound, a bodily sensation, or an unfinished task to be received without immediately surrendering your center to it.

Let the senses participate in the present. The chosen quality becomes the channel through which experience is received. Repeated return gradually carries it beyond a brief sitting and into ordinary life.

Continuity means that the orientation increasingly accompanies what you do. Give a conversation, a task, or a walk the attention it requires. At each natural transition, renew the direction if it has been forgotten.

**Fourth, understand meditation as training this tuning.** Every sitting exercises the capacity to recognize awareness, release identification, and return to the assumed state.

Sit comfortably. Allow breathing to remain natural. Keep intention Godward. Offer the role or attachment currently claiming you. Recognize the awareness already present, and allow the chosen quality of being to become directly available within it.

Continue returning whenever attention becomes absorbed. The same movement can later be practiced while working, listening, deciding, or moving through the day.

**Fifth, allow words and images to fall quiet.** Visualization and verbal repetition remain thoughts appearing within consciousness. This protocol approaches the awareness in which they are known.

To enter the field of consciousness is to recognize that awareness directly. A mental picture of an enlightened observer is still something observed. It, too, can be offered.

The distinction applies equally to God. The Father remains the direction of the offering. No image, sensation, or emotion needs to represent Him. You can inhabit steadiness without making steadiness itself your god.

The state is inhabited; the Father holds the center.

This is what keeps the practice Godward. Identities can loosen, attention can become steadier, and experience can be received through a different inner condition, while every gain and every desired destination remains available as an offering.

Let attention return until that direction becomes familiar enough to accompany life.

## Frequently asked questions

### What is Godward tuning?

Godward tuning is a practice of learning to inhabit a chosen state of consciousness while God the Father remains the center. Identities can loosen, attention can become steadier, and experience can be received through a different inner condition, while every gain and every desired destination remains available as an offering.

### Why examine what you are tuning toward before practicing?

A practice that strengthens attention can also strengthen attachment. The ability to pursue a desire does not establish that the desire deserves devotion. Someone may devote themselves to becoming rich and famous while fear of insignificance remains at the center, so the first question is where the practice places its center.

### What do dimension, frequency and signature of light mean here?

A dimension means a state of consciousness. Frequency refers to the quality of being one continually inhabits: its convictions, expectations, attachments, and direction. That maintained pattern is one’s signature of light, the unique quality through which existence is expressed. Like a radio, its tuning determines the station it receives.

### What are the five movements of the practice?

First, consciousness becomes naked: set down the identities that demand protection. Second, attention learns persistence by training the return. Third, inhabit the assumed state through direct sensory experience. Fourth, understand meditation as training this tuning. Fifth, allow words and images to fall quiet, since visualizations remain thoughts appearing within consciousness.

### How does the practice stay Godward?

The state is inhabited; the Father holds the center. The Father remains the direction of the offering, and no image, sensation, or emotion needs to represent Him. You can inhabit steadiness without making steadiness itself your god.
