Ch. 10
A Rhythm for the First Week
1 min · Adam G.
The following rhythm gives each element room to become clear. It is a learning schedule, with the Father remaining the center from the first sitting.
Days 1 and 2: Learn nakedness. Sit for five minutes. Notice a strongly held identity, receive its claim, and offer it. Become familiar with a moment of awareness that does not need the identity to justify itself.
Days 3 and 4: Learn the return. Continue the same sitting. Notice how attention becomes absorbed and how it can return. Let recognition and offering become one movement. Keep the return gentle enough to repeat.
Days 5 and 6: Learn direct inhabiting. Offer the desired state before settling into its felt quality. Choose a simple orientation that can be lived now, such as steadiness or being sustained. Receive actual sensation through it. Let images and sentences become offerings when they arise.
Day 7: Carry it into a task. Begin with the same meditation. Then practice the orientation during one ordinary activity: walking, preparing a meal, answering a message, or doing a piece of work. Give the activity full attention.
At the end of the week, notice what has become clearer. Can you recognize an identity before fully obeying it? Can you return with less strain? Can you remain Godward when the desired feeling is absent? Can the practice accompany a necessary action?
Continue with the element that needs familiarity. There is no rank to achieve and no deadline for becoming someone special.
