Ch. 4
Keep the Father at the Center
1 min · Adam G.
Naked awareness is receptive. It therefore needs direction.
In The Godward Way, the Father is the fixed point through every possible state of consciousness. His place does not depend on whether you feel peaceful, powerful, disappointed, admired, or uncertain. Your direction toward Him can remain through all of them.
Godward orientation is an intention of relationship. It does not require a picture of God, a location in the body, a voice, or a sensation interpreted as His presence.
The words “Father,” “Creator,” and “Source” indicate the direction of the offering. Let them perform that work, then allow the language to fall quiet.
If an image of God appears, offer the image. If a comforting emotion appears, offer the emotion. If a strong feeling claims to be a divine instruction, let the claim itself be offered and examined. Intensity does not settle the question of its origin.
The same applies to the observer. You do not have to hold a mental picture of the Big Eye while directing another picture toward God. Remain aware, with intention already Godward, and allow representations to pass through that openness.
Catch and Offer is simultaneous. The emotion is recognized within the same movement by which it is given. There is no need to first establish a detached chamber and later attempt a connection.
As a desire becomes clear, offer it before settling into the state associated with it. Notice whether you can remain Godward even if that particular outcome changes or never becomes yours. The question reveals how tightly the desired condition has begun to hold the center.
The anchor is the relationship itself. No passing state must become the measure of whether the Father has been lost.
